FAQs
Private Courses
-
Find out the cost of your private group course based on your selected courses & group size here
-
Once a host has booked a date and time for a course via our booking system, they will receive a unique link to send out to the group, so everyone can confirm and pay individually.
-
About 20km from Auckland CBD. If you’re on the fringe/further afield and would like to book a private first aid course, get in touch for a chat and we’ll see if we can arrange something.
-
Yes, that’s perfectly fine! If you have a large or excitable pet we kindly ask they’re kept in another room so as not to disturb the session or damage the manikins.
-
No, but it’s your home so you are more than welcome to eat & drink during the session.
-
Yes — there’s a set cost per person up to 4 (the minimum to go ahead), and then the cost per person reduces for extra attendees (up to a max of 8). So it’s certainly worth roping in your friends, parents & anyone else who might like to join!
Public Courses
-
Service dogs & children are welcome at our courses. We do ask that pets are kept out of the way during private courses to protect the mannikins
-
At various Auckland venues — see course booking page for details. When choosing venues we always aim for spaces with modern facilities, ample parking & good coffee.
-
Yes to all three.
-
This will depend on the individual venue. We’ll let you know the deal with food via email once you’re booked in.
General
-
No, our courses are baby & child-specific, which means they’re not designed to cover adult first aid or workplace safety. We recommend asking your employer what training organisation is best to book your workplace certification with.
-
In our 90-minute courses, there is a small break. Private courses more than 2 hours long have 2 or more breaks.
-
For public courses manikins are connected via a centralised device
For private courses, you’ll need either a smartphone or iPad/tablet to access some of the workbook material (as there will be videos with QR codes) and sync with your CPR manikin to monitor your chest compressions. We’ll send you a link to download the app you need — along with an instructional video — before your course so you’re all ready to go.
-
Yes — we need a minimum of 4 people for both the public & private courses to go ahead. Numbers are capped at 8 people to ensure everyone gets the support they need to learn effectively.
-
Our manikins are the latest premium technology from Laerdal, the company that most hospitals use for their resuscitation teaching. They monitor your chest compressions & ensure you’re practising the correct technique when performing CPR — this is extremely important because CPR won’t work if you’re not pressing hard enough.
-
Absolutely — we go over and above the sanitary recommendations to make sure you feel safe practising your rescue breaths on a manikin. We use protective face shields for each attendee, disinfectant wipes between use and perform a full disinfection of manikin faces at the end of each day. We regularly replace their lungs too!
-
Nope, ‘manikin’ is the medical version. ‘Mannequin’ is the type you put clothes on ;)
-
At the moment our Life-Saving Essentials are in Auckland only. All our other courses have an online oion. So you can learn anywhere
